THIS COURSE IS CURRENTLY NOT IN SESSION.

Course Overview (UF Graduate Catalog):  "Students will develop a knowledge of computer technology in education and apply that knowledge to the solution of educational problems. Experience in working with computer systems will be provided."

This course has a large audience. Masters and Ph.D. students, in and outside of the College of Education, can take this as part of the Production track major or in fulfillment of other specializations. Therefore, this course is being redefined to act as a Production Foundations course-an introduction to Educational Technology Production for Teaching and Learning. If this is your only course in the Production track, you will have a chance to learn about many of the important issues, responsibilities, concerns, and opportunities available in the production of educational technologies. If this is part of your specialization, those same topics can be seen as a preview to the in-depth courses that will follow in the Production track.

Please note: Students often ask whether this course is about learning specific hardware and software skills associated with the development, creation, implementation, and evaluation of educational technologies. It is my hope and intention that you will learn hardware- and software-specific skills that will be useful in this course, other courses, and in your post-study employment. However, those skills will be learned in the process of understanding the theoretical and practical implications of the design and development of educational technologies. Skill development is seen as an intended outcome and yet not a focal point of the course.
